14 Nights Upscale Rockies
A wonderful Tour of Colorado taking on all its highlights whilst staying at Luxury Hotels and Lodges along the way.
Days 1,2 & 3: Denver, CO
Welcome to the “Mile High City”, gateway to the spectacular Rocky Mountains! Denver is a vibrant city with 300 days of annual sunshine and the breathtaking Rocky Mountains in their backyard. See the Colorado State Capitol, modelled after the U.S. Capitol, with a step that is exactly one mile above sea level and spectacular views from the rotunda. The Denver Art Museum is itself a piece of sculpture. Nearby, the Colorado History Museum tells the colourful story of the gold miners, cowboys, sod busters, railroaders, soldiers and explorers who have called Colorado home. A block from the park is the U.S. Mint. This is the second largest storehouse of gold bullion in the U.S. and the spot where 10 billion coins are made each year. Stroll 16th Street Mall, with its outdoor cafes, shops, fountains, open plazas and parks.
Overnight at the Historic Brown Palace Hotel, Traditional Rooms.  This hotel is known as "the" place to stay while in downtown Denver and has been "the" downtown lodge for over 100 years.
Day 2- Denver
Full day to explore the museums and attractions of Denver, many located within a short walk or shuttle ride from your downtown hotel location.  Others, such as the Red Rocks Park and Lookout Mountain (gravesite of Buffalo Bill Cody) are an easy drive away.  A second night in the Brown Palace Hotel.
Day 3- Denver – Grand Junction (243 miles)
Today you will drive through the mountains of Colorado, past the winter play-resorts of Breckenridge, Keystone and Vail.  You will pass through the beautiful Glenwood Canyon and continue to follow the Colorado River to the "west slope" where you will spend two nights at the Wine Country Inn
Day 4- Grand Junction
A day to explore the beauty of the Colorado National Monument, visit some of the wineries of Western Colorado and the other attractions and museums (lots of Prehistoric Dinosaur history in this region) of Grand Junction.  A second night at the Wine Country Inn.
Day 5- Grand Junction – Sorrell River Utah (86 miles)
Today you travel just a short distance into Utah, again following the Colorado River as it journeys into the more desert terrain.  You will spend the next three nights at one of the top resort lodges in Utah at the Sorrell River Ranch in a River View room, fast becoming a must stop for many travelers looking for the best.  Situated along the Colorado River, the program is cost for a river view room unit.  Here you will also find optional activities such as river rafting, horseback riding, fishing, jeep touring, jetboat touring and much more.
Day 6-7- Sorrell River Utah
Two full days to enjoy the some of the most interesting scenery along this tour route--Arches and Canyonlands National Parks--as well as take advantage of the time to enjoy the many excellent optional tour programs (See day 6).  Two more nights at the Sorrell River Ranch.
Day 8- Sorrell River Utah – Telluride (153 miles)
Today we suggest more touring in the southern regions of the Canyonlands Park (Needles District) before returning to Colorado and on to near one of the up and coming resort areas in the state—Telluride. Here you will again find activities and lots of hiking, or just resting at the lodge. Overnight at The Peaks Hotel in a Superior Vista Room.
Day 9- Telluride
From your base at Telluride you can explore the canyon, travel to nearby hot springs, take a jeep tour up into the San Juan Mountains, or shopping in some of the fine shops and galleries. A second night at The Peaks Hotel.
Day 10- Telluride – Durango (118 miles)
Travel to the corner of Colorado today to visit the Mesa Verde National Park.  This park features the many cliff dwellings of the Anasazi Indians built between 800-1000 years ago and was the first national park dedicated to the works of man--and not just nature.  You will then proceed on to Durango for a two night stay in the Historic Strater Hotel located along the main street of this former mining community.
Day 11- Durango
A full day to enjoy the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway.  The cost of a coach class seat is included in our package, we suggest the Parlor Car (18 and over only) for a supplement shown below to make the ride even more enjoyable.  You will return in the late afternoon with time to explore more of Downtown Durango and a second night at the Historic Strater Hotel.

Day 12- Durango – Colorado Springs (314 miles)
Your route today will take you past the newest of the parks in the US National Park System--the Great Sand Dunes National Park near to Alamosa.  Then continue through the San Luis Valley north, then follow the Arkansas River to the Royal Gorge and on into the city of Colorado Springs.  Here you will stay for the final two nights at the Cheyenne Mountain Lodge overlooking the nearby mountains.
Day 13 & 14 – Colorado Springs
Two full days to enjoy the sights of Colorado Springs with, again, many options to choose from:  Cog Rail to the top of Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, US Olympic Training Center, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, and many other excellent attractions.  You may even wish to take a drive around Pikes Peak to the gaming town of Cripple Creek to try your luck before returning to the Cheyenne Mountain lodge both nights.
Day 15- Colorado Springs – Denver (71 miles)
The drive to the Denver Airport will be about 1 1/2 - 2 hours, depending on the time of day and traffic, so we suggest an afternoon or early evening departure.
